Mars - Ancient Gullies
Covered with permafrost on a global scale, where the suface is permanently frozen, the soil on Mars averages about -60º F (-50 C). That's cold! As a result, any kind of water on Mars must be ice. This particular image shows landforms that are shaped by flowing ice, similar to how glaciers behave on Earth. Because Mars is so rusty & dusty, the dust is mixed in with the ice, creating this stunning image.
