Starship Window - Galaxy Andromeda

Hot stars burn brightly in this image from NASA's Galaxy Evolution Explorer, showing the UV side of our closest galactic neighbor.

The bands of blue and white harbor hot, young, massive stars. The yellow-white center of the galaxy reveal a congregation of older and much cooler stars that formed a long long time ago.

Let your imagination run wild with our Starship Window frame. You'll find yourself looking twice, realizing that it's not popping off the wall. Pretend you've just given the on-board "mother" computer a command to apply the ultra-violet filter, so you can better study the galaxy as you approach it at warp (faster-than-light) speeds.
